Pathogen-Fighting Honey

There is no antibiotic that goes into the body and searches for the “bad” bacteria and works to only eliminate what we deem bad. Antibiotics strip the entire microbiome - the “good” and the “bad” (I also think that calling the bacteria “good” or “bad” is iffy. We need a lot of the microbes that we label as “bad” - we just need harmony. Anyways, that’s for a later discussion.)
Working with plants and natural sources, we help our body to regulate its microbiome, get rid of what isn’t needed, and restore a harmony that supports and maintains good health.
That’s what I am all about! Supporting the intelligence of our body to do what it already knows how to do - heal itself!
I am going to share with you one of my favorite remedies to have on hand to fight off any pesky pathogens before they have the chance to take hold, or to help your body remove them should they sneak in.
Pathogen Fighting Honey -
Ingredients:
1 quart honey
A little less than half of a purple onion - diced finely
Half a head of garlic - diced finely
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper powder
ALWAYS USE A WOODEN OR PLASTIC UTENSIL WHEN WORKING WITH HONEY!
Metal and honey chemically react and while it’s not the end of the world, it’s best to reduce toxic exposure as much as possible.
Mix the diced onion, garlic, and powdered cayenne pepper into the quart of honey. Mix well and allow to sit overnight (8-12 hours) before first use.
This remedy sits well on my shelf for months at a time - sometimes even over a year! I have never known a mixture to go bad.
This remedy offers so much support for:
Soothing sore throats
Easing coughs
Clearing mucous and opening airways
Boosting the immune system
Battling a cold or flu
Giving a quick boost of energy
Delivering antioxidants and nutrients to the body
Reducing swelling in joints
Reducing inflammation in the body
Improving blood circulation
& so much more!
This remedy is safe for humans over the age of 2.
For adults:
To avoid digestive upset, start with ¼ to ½ of a teaspoon to see how your body responds to it and adjust as needed.
If I feel a cold or bug trying to creep in, I will take 3-5 teaspoons a day for a few days as well as herbal steams, hot soup, and rest!
For children: The dosage will vary depending on age, weight, and health. I recommend ½ teaspoon twice a day. Reach out to me if you have questions or would like to determine a dosage for your children!
Thanks for taking the time to read this! I hope you enjoy making this remedy - and if you do, please tell me about it! There are different variations of this remedy - what do you like to use in yours?
