Schisandra
Schisandra Chinensis
OoOo We LOVE working with Schisandra berries and they have so much to offer.
I have found Schisandra to be very helpful for restoring the body and energy reserves for those who put out a lot of physical exertion (working out, hard labor, etc.) or those recovering from wasting diseases such tuberculosis, diabetes, chronic diarrhea, etc.
In Chinese medicine, Schisandra is known as a five flavor berry. What this can mean is that Schisandra has an affinity for every organ system in the body - helping to strengthen and tonify the organs. While these berries have a special affinity for the lungs, kidneys, and heart, I believe it to be supportive for the entire body.
What does it mean to strengthen and tonify?
The idea for us is that strengthening and tonifying the organs means to increase blood flow and nutrient content to the organs, bringing more vitality and improving function.
For adrenal burnout, we recommend 2 full droppers in an oz of water 2-3x a day for 2-3 weeks at a time, then taking a break for another 2 weeks.
For pre workout or even post workout recovery, I recommend 2 full droppers in an oz of water before or after.
Schisandra is known to aid digestion, increase bile secretion, protect the liver, improve circulation, and strengthen the heart.
Schisandra berries are stimulating and excessive use could lead to insomnia and anxiety.
We recommend working with it in the morning / early afternoon.
If working with Schisandra for the respiratory system, while the tincture is effective I believe drinking it as a tea is superior. You can also mix the schisandra with herbs like astragalus and reishi for more support.
This is an incredible herb with much to offer and we encourage you to work with, read about, and develop a relationship with this herb.
