Filipendula ulmaria

Meadowsweet is one of my favorite herbs to work with when wanting to heal & strengthen the digestive system. Meadowsweet can help to clear, soothe, and protect the mucus membranes in the digestive tract, remedy damage caused by NSAID or other pharmaceuticals, can help reduce acidity and heartburn, ease nausea, and the gentle astringency of this herb can be very helpful in diarrhea in children 8 and older.

Meadowsweet can be helpful in systemic inflammation, reducing fevers, and relieving the pain of rheumatism in muscles and joints. We also like to work with meadowsweet when we have tooth/mouth pain or inflammation of the gum. You can put 2-5 FULL droppers into an oz or 2 of water and then use that as a mouthwash, swishing it thoroughly and then spitting or swallowing.

Meadowsweet contains salicin, which is a chemical that is similar to aspiring, however it doesn’t come with the gnarly side effects of aspirin, which is why meadowsweet may be helpful for system inflammation, however we like to use a full dropper every 45 mins to an hour until you achieve some relief.

Meadowsweet has been shown to be helpful in acid reflux, indigestion, ulcers, bloating, flatulence, and digestive inflammation. Meadowsweet is one of the key herbs in our Iron Stomach tea blend.

Meadowsweet, like all other herbs, have so much to offer us and we should always study, ask questions, do our own research, and work with herbs ourselves.
